Trail of the Week: Forest visit, views abound on this Echo Ridge trail
Cross-country ski area near Lake Chelan is open with grooming occurring on the entire trail system

View full versionAccess: On Highway 150 between Chelan and Manson, turn right on Boyd Road at the Echo Valley Ski Area sign, continue past the ski area and turn right onto Forest Service Road No. 8021-130 at the Echo Ridge Nordic Area sign. Follow the road to its end at the Echo Ridge parking lot.
Fees: Day passes are $10 and are available at the fee boxes at Echo Ridge. The $70 season pass may be purchased from the Chelan Ranger District office. Persons 17 years and younger are free.
Length: 1.7-mile “easiest” rated ski trail. Snow and grooming reports are updated as conditions change and may be obtained at the Chelan Ranger District office or from the Lake Chelan Nordic Ski Club web site at www.lakechelannordic.org .
Allowed: Cross-country skiing.
Not allowed: Snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and all other forms of pedestrian or motorized travel are not allowed on groomed trails. Dogs are also not allowed on the trails.
Elevation gain: About 100 feet, from 3,300 to 3,400 feet.
What you will see: Most of this trip is through Ponderosa pine and Douglas fir forest. Views of Lake Chelan, Manson, and Chelan Butte are possible.
Longer and more challenging ski routes can be accessed approximately one mile from the trailhead at the “Grand Junction,” where several routes converge.
