Marja Applegate and Blake Smith

Marja Applegate of Wenatchee and Blake Smith of Bellevue have announced their engagement.

She is the daughter of Rose and John Applegate of Wenatchee. His parents are Randy and Cindi Smith of Bellevue.

She graduated from Wenatchee High School and from Whitman College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She earned a certification in perfusion from the Texas Heart Institute in Houston. She is a perfusionist and patient coordinator for the ventricular assist device program at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma.

He graduated from Bellevue High School and from Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He earned a master’s degree in tax law from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He is a lead tax associate at McGladrey LLP in Tacoma.

A November wedding is planned.
