The Wenatchee fire department, police department and the museum need to take a page from the senior center activity center. A few years ago they were supported with funds from the City of Wenatchee and the Chelan County commissioners. When this funding stopped the senior citizens board took the iniative and developed their programs using volunteers. Their many programs now are kept operational by volunteers. An ad on TV stated that in Washington state, 93 percent of fire departments use volunteers. Some police departments use volunteer senior citizens patrols. The Wenatchee museum uses many volunteers and needs to encourage interested people to become paying members and also to develop grants and fundraisers. What really matters is what you do with what you have
