CD changer foils fleeing car thief

A 34-year-old Wenatchee man lost control of the stolen car he was driving and crashed down a rocky embankment Friday morning while he was changing CDs along Highway 97A, just north of Chelan.

Jeremy Morris fled on foot and was arrested about 1.5 miles from the crash site, Sgt. Ron Huddleston, Chelan County Sheriff’s spokesman said.

Morris was transported to Lake Chelan Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then booked into Chelan County Regional Jail for car theft and related crimes.

The car, which was reported stolen from Cashmere, left the roadway and plunged down a 30-foot, rocky embankment, Huddleston said.

State Patrol is investigating.
